THE MOST ANCIENT CARNIVAL: A TEXTILE JOURNEY THROUGH ITS ORIGINS
Before costumes, parades and glitter, Carnival was an ancient celebration, a rite of passage between winter and spring. In its pagan origins, this festival symbolised the renewal of life, freedom and chaos before order. That is why it is celebrated, with different nuances, in so many corners of the world: from the Mediterranean to the Andes, from Venice to Rio de Janeiro, from Asia to the Caribbean.
The spirit of Carnival is universal, an explosion of identity, art and colour that lives on in every fabric, every texture, every sparkle.
Today, at Ravial, we want to pay tribute to this ancient and multicultural Carnival with a selection of fabrics inspired by three great continents: Asia, Europe and America.
ASIA: the magic and brilliance of the ethereal
Satin fabrics and golden jacquards transport us to the most mystical parts of the Orient. Their light, reflections and delicacy evoke the magic of temples, the elegance of dragons and the softness of ancient silks.
The Época Imagine, Puzol, Tánger Cachemir and Satipring fabrics pay homage to oriental splendour: ideal for imperial-inspired costumes, magical fantasies or characters shrouded in mystery and luxury.
EUROPE: nobility, power and fantasy
European Carnival is steeped in history: Venetian masks, palace balls, knights, kings and queens. Our velvets and suedes — such as Época Parsifal, Cleopatra, Josefina and Bellini — capture that regal essence.
Ornate textures, intense colours and an air of distinction that revives the splendour of period costumes, noble processions and legends of the Middle Ages.
AMERICA: colour, roots and free spirit
From ancient pre-Columbian civilisations to the most vibrant carnivals in South America, ethnic cotton fabrics reflect a connection to the land, nature and indigenous peoples.
Bright colours, geometric patterns and ancestral energy define the Apache, Atacama, Cherokee and Comanche designs, perfect for creations that celebrate cultural diversity and the festive spirit that unites the continent.
