TRAVEL BACK IN TIME WITH RAVIAL: FABRICS FOR CLOTHING IN ORTIGUEIRA AND THE CANTABRIAN WARS
Summer brings not only sun and holidays, but also cultural celebrations that connect us with our ancestral roots. From Ravial, as experts in fabrics, we want to pay tribute to two great festivities that are approaching and that make history vibrate: the International Festival of the Celtic World in Ortigueira and the Cantabrian Wars in Los Corrales de Buelna.
Both festivities allow us to relive the past through music, theatre and, of course, the costumes, a key element in faithfully recreating the aesthetics of the Celts and Romans. Ravial offers you a wide variety of fabrics that will help you to make unique, resistant and full of history outfits.

Held in Galicia since 1978, this festival is one of the largest European gatherings of Celtic music and Atlantic cultures. Their spirit is deeply connected to the roots of the Celtic people: the music, the dance, the community and, of course, the natural and ancestral aesthetics that characterise their costumes.
To dress up like real Celts, fabrics should be rustic, natural and functional. The most suitable colours are browns, whites, greens, beige, blacks and reds.
🧵 Basic fabrics (for tunics, dresses, capes or shawls):
• Pastora, Diva, Bubu and Velvet Cambrai offer an ideal base for simple, period-accurate garments.
• Época Cleopatra and Época Besalú add that perfect touch of historicity to recreate the village costumes.
• Velvet Fidiaswith its elegant and rustic texture, completes this group of fabrics ideal for more elaborate confections.

Every year, Los Corrales de Buelna (Cantabria) hosts one of the most important historical re-enactments in Spain: the Cantabrian Wars, which pitted the Roman Empire against the peoples of northern Hispania. The historical rigour of their representations requires costumes that clearly differentiate the two sides and evoke the strength of warriors, soldiers, druids or craftswomen.
🧵 Basic fabrics for tunics, cloaks and general clothing:
• Estameña, ideal for its thickness and traditional look.
